APS DFD 2025 was a memorable and enriching experience for our research group. We proudly presented our work across multiple platforms, including one invited talk on secondary atomization under extreme conditions , one DFD Interact talk on vortical cleaning , two contributed talks on microscale flows  and cascades and corrugations , along with five Gallery of Fluid Motion videos and two poster presentations. Our contributions spanned a wide range of topics such as vortex-media

Gautham Vadlamudi, a former PhD student from the Basu lab, has been awarded the Best PhD Thesis Award 2025 by the Indian Society of Heat and Mass Transfer for his thesis titled “Spatio-temporal Dynamics in Droplet Combustion under Diverse Flow Conditions,” . We congratulate him on this outstanding accomplishment. With this recognition, a total of 11 PhD scholars from our group have now received Best PhD Thesis awards.

Our lab successfully conducted a 3-day workshop on Measurement Techniques for Drops and Sprays from 10–12 November 2025, hosted under the Centre for Continuing Education at IISc Bengaluru. The workshop brought together participants from diverse backgrounds, offering hands-on training, technical sessions, and expert demonstrations on state-of-the-art diagnostic methods for droplet and spray research.

Siddhant Jain won the Oral Presentation Award in the category of Micro Nano-scale Flows & Droplet Microfluidics at the International Conference on Micro Nano Fluidics (ICOM 2025), IIT Guwahati. This recognition highlights the quality and impact of his work in advancing droplet microfluidics.

He was recognized for his impactful work on atomization physics and multiscale interfacial mechanisms, with his research already leading to two patents and significant advances in spray atomization. The award also includes a ₹1,00,000 cash prize.

Mr. Amey Nitin Agharkar defends his PhD thesis and becomes the 25th PhD student to graduate from Prof. Basu's lab. He was co-guided by Prof. Dipshikha Chakravortty from MCB, IISc. Congratulations to Amey and good luck for his future endeavors.
