About me:

Hola! I am Prasanna Kumar Billa, a Research Associate (Postdoctoral Researcher) working on droplet dynamics, atomization, and interfacial transport phenomena in Prof. Saptarshi Basu’s lab in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the Indian Institute of Science. I obtained my Ph.D. in Thermal Engineering from IIT Madras, specializing in experimental fluid dynamics and multiphase flows. My research focuses on droplet impact, interfacial transport, and surface wettability using high-speed imaging and quantitative analysis. I have investigated the water-entry dynamics of rigid spheres, uncovering mechanisms governing penetration, rebound, and pinch-off.

Ph.D. from IIT Madras: Investigated the water-entry dynamics of a rigid sphere in the Multiscale Multiphysics Laboratory (MML) under the supervision of Prof. Pallab Sinha Mahapatra.

M.Tech from NIT Rourkela: Specialized in Thermal Engineering in the Department of Mechanical Engineering under the guidance of Prof. Ranjit Kumar Sahoo, with research focused on the mean flow and thermal characteristics of a turbulent dual jet consisting of a sinusoidal wall jet and a parallel offset jet using numerical simulations.

B.Tech from RGUKT Nuzvid: Completed a degree in Mechanical Engineering under the supervision of Prof. B Ratna Sunil, working on the fabrication of Al-5083/single-walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) surface composites using friction stir processing (FSP).
